Twin Lakes Writers (TLW) is a not-for-profit group whose purpose is to bring writers together and share literary knowledge throughout northern Arkansas and southern Missouri. The group is headed by President Nancy Thatcher-Cerny and meets once a month in Mountain Home, Arkansas. For information go to www.twinlakeswriters.org.

This is a handmade book! Through research and trial and error, TLW member C. Allan Butkus has developed a system for printing and binding books at home. This process gives TLW an opportunity to present you with a truly-unique, handmade item.

All profits from this book go directly into the TLW treasury. TLW does not charge dues and is open to the public. However, the group does have an expense for a meeting room and is building a treasury with the aim of hiring professional speakers, so donations are always welcome.

The range of short stories and poems in this book is vast. From the true story of the writer whose aunt married Wild Bill Hickok, to the drama of a Cherokee raid in the Ohio Valley, to the fanciful dealings of a pesky chipmunk that’s run up one’s trousers; there’s something for everyone. At the same time, it’s a book we wouldn’t be ashamed to let our kids read.

The creation of In Our Own Words could be called "Doing it Our Own Way."  Every facet of the book was considered by Twin Lakes Writers in order to deliver an affordable, enjoyable, inoffensive, easy to read, handmade book.  The anthology is 312 pages long, measures a large 8 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches and the font is an easy-reading 12-point.  This book could retail for between 15 and 20 dollars, but TLW wants to encourage the literary arts and is making the book available for only $10!  Remember, this is a completely handmade book and there's no telling where these 12 different authors will end up.  Imagine having a handmade book by the next Steinbeck or Hemingway . . . it could happen.  Regardless, we know you will enjoy the 61 short stories, articles and poems.
